Fun Pet Activities in the Fall
Finally, the temperatures have lowered in the last month and continue to move back into the pleasant outdoor climate that makes San Antonio a great place to live. South central Texas offers a lot of fun activities with pets in the fall. Hiking, biking, parks and parties, the fall season really is a nice mix of seasonal activities for you and your furry friends. Here are some ideas to keep you and your favorite animal moving well into winter.
Fall Fun
Consider your pets when you leave the house. Could they truly enjoy the very same activities that you do, on this same trip? If so, bring your pets along for those fun fall activities! Short on ideas, here are a few of our favorites:
- Hiking – Hiking in the surrounding area at San Antonio, Eisenhower Park, Friedrich Wilderness Park, or Brackenridge Park. If those won’t do, there are plenty of trails that parallel the San Antonio river.
- Camping – Those more tolerable temps mean it’s easier to spend time camping. Lots of places in the San Antonio area for camping are pet friendly, so everyone involved will enjoy themselves.
- Family Photo-Walk – A favorite, most everyone has a great camera right on them, no special gear needed! With all the modern conveniences of smartphones and special photo apps, it is a personal favorite and one of the easiest ones. Can you make your pooch say, “cheese”? Also, look online for a multitude of animal photo contests you and your pet can participate in.
- Working around your house – Less adventurous, and just as rewarding for your furry friends, working around the house. Raking leaves, they love piles of fluffy leaves to jump through. When incorporating them into the yard work, talk to them and verbalize; our pets are much more in tune with our verbalizations with them than we may realize. Just be cautious of toxins and other fall dangers.
- Halloween Costuming – With so many social media sites with do-it-yourself projects, check out costumes to make and dress your pets in. This really can go well with the photo walk. After-all why go through the trouble of finding unique costumes for you pets if you can’t capture the pure cuteness of them.
- Dog Parks – Good for anytime of the year. Try some of San Antonios’ dog parks like Phil Hardberger Park, Madison Square Dog Park, or this list of other parks in the area.
Outside Activities for Our Pets during the Autumn
There are so many activities to do with our pets in the fall season, they all just can’t be listed. Be sure to take your caution with you, as well some things like extra leashes, doo-doo bags, water, and your sense of adventure. Your pet will have fun and the strengthened bond between you will definitely be noticed while on the next cuddle adventure on the couch during the spontaneous binge TV session.
